Mike: Oh, oh, I know! You both should go to the buffet that just opened up near my house. Their food is delicious and plus, you can eat as much as you want.
Jason: A buffet? Hmm…my wife eats like a bird though.
Mike: Oh. If your wife eats like a bird you wouldn’t want to take her there. Instead, take her to the seafood restaurant near our work. They have small portions there.
Jason: Perfect! Thanks.

오늘 영어표현은 eat like a bird입니다. If a person eats like a bird, he or she does not eat very much. To ‘eat like a bird’는 소식하다, 음식을 조금씩밖에 안 먹다’라는 뜻입니다. 영어 표현 그대로 새처럼 조금만 먹는다. 라고 생각하시면 됩니다. If you think about it, birds are much smaller than human beings. So obviously birds must have a smaller stomach than we do. Thus if someone eats like a bird, they are really eating small portions. Now you know what it means to eat like a bird right? Then we will now listen to the conversation for the last time.
