Mike: Why would you need to sleep on it? It’s an amazing opportunity!

Jason: Well it’s because this new job is in a different state and that means that our family would have to move.

Mike: Oh. That’s a very big decision.

In life, there are many decisions to make and things to think about. So sometimes, we need to take a day or two to think about it. 그런데 사소한 것이라면 몰라도 중요한 일에 대한 결정은 충분히 시간을 두고 하는 게 좋겠죠. 신중하게 생각해봐야 하니까요. 이런 상황에서 쓸 수 있는 표현이 바로 ‘sleep on it’입니다. Sleep on it은 ‘하룻밤 자며 잘 생각하다, 신중하게 검토해보다’는 뜻인데요. 결정을 다음 날까지 미룬다는 의미를 담고 있습니다. 이제 예를 들어 볼까요? Let me give you some examples. “I have yet to decide if I want to take a vacation now or later.
