일본이 이라크 부채의 80퍼센트를 탕감해 주기로 합의했습니다. 일본의 교토 통신은 6일, 일본이 이라크의 부채 약 60억 달러를 탕감해 줄 것이라고 보도했습니다.
이라크는 여전히 일본측에 향후 23년에 걸쳐서 나머지 부채 약14억 달러를 갚아 나가야 합니다.
이 보도는 양국이 올해 말까지 공식 협정을 체결할 것으로 예상된다고 전하고, 이 같은 협정은 일본이 이라크 재건을 지원하기 위해서 최대 35억 달러에 달하는 자금 지원을 재개하도록 해주는 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.
이 같은 일본 정부의 결정은 지난해 19개 대 이라크 채권국들의 모임인 파리 클럽에서 이라크가 지고 있는 부채의 80퍼센트를 탕감해주기로 한 결정에 뒤이은 것입니다.

Japan has reportedly agreed to write off 80 percent of the debts owed to it by Iraq, paving the way for a resumption of financial aid.
The Kyodo news agency reports today (Sunday) that Japan will forgive nearly six-billion dollars owed by Iraq. The war-torn country will still be responsible for paying about about one-point-four-billion dollars over 23 years.
The report says the two countries are expected to conclude a formal agreement by the end of the year.
Kyodo says the deal will allow Japan to resume loans of up to three-point-five-billion dollars to help in Iraq's reconstruction.
Tokyo's decision follows an agreement last year by the Paris Club of 19 creditor nations to cancel 80 percent of Iraq's debts.
