중동 페르시아만 지역 최초로 쿠웨이트에서 두 건의 조류독감이 발생한 것으로 확인됐습니다.
쿠웨이트 공공농업당국은 10일 두 마리의 새에서 조류독감이 발견됐다면서 그 중 한 마리는 철새라고 밝혔습니다. 하지만 그 새들이 치명적인 H5N1 변종 바이러스에 감염돼 있는 지는 밝혀지지 않았습니다.
한편 중국은 동북부의 랴오닝성에서 두 건의 새로운 조류독감 발생을 보고함으로써 지난 한 달 동안 중국에서 발생한 조류독감은 모두 여섯 건으로 집계됐습니다.

Kuwait has reported two cases of bird flu -- the first report of the virus in the Persian Gulf region.
The head of the Public Agricultural Authority (Sheikh Fahd Salem al-Sabah) said today (Thursday) the cases were discovered in two birds -- and that at least one was a migrating fowl. It is not clear if the birds were carrying the deadly H5N1 strain of the virus.
Meanwhile, China has reported two new outbreaks of bird flu among poultry in the northeastern province of Liaoning, bringing the total number of reported outbreaks in the country over the past month to six.
Wednesday in Geneva, the World Bank said it plans to provide one billion dollars to pandemic programs, while the World Organization for Animal Health and the Food and Agricultural Organization said another 500-million dollars will be needed to fight the disease in animals.
