Peru's main election board says disgraced former President Alberto Fujimori cannot run in the April presidential elections.
Saturday's decision upholds an earlier ruling by the board that bars Mr. Fujimori from seeking public office until at least 2010. His attorneys had appealed that ruling.
Mr. Fujimori has been detained in Chile since November when he unexpectedly arrived from Japan - the birthplace of his parents - while on his way to Lima. He fled to Japan in 2000 after his presidency collapsed under the weight of several corruption scandals.
