러시아는 핵무기 제조계획 의혹을 받고 있는 이란의 핵 계획을 포기하도록 압력을 가하는 유엔 안전보장 이사회의 성명서 초안을 거부했습니다.
세르게이 라브로프 러시아 외무장관은 안보리 성명서 초안 이란에 대해 궁극적으로 제재를 가하는 사실상의 기본원칙을 포함하고 있다고 지적했습니다. 라브로프 장관은 22일, 미국,중국, 러시아, 영국, 프랑스 등 안보리 5개 상임 이사국 회의에서 영국과 프랑스가 성명서 초안을 공동으로 비공식 발의한뒤 이같이 지적했습니다.
중국도 안보리 성명서 초안이 이란에 대한 강경조치를 취하는 기초가 될 수 있다는 이유로 초안에 반대하고 있습니다. 콘돌리사 라이스 미 국무장관은 이보다 앞서 미국과 동맹국들은 이란이 핵활동을 포기하도록 압력을 가하는 방안에 궁국적으로 동의할 것임을 확신한다고 강조하고 그러나 외교에는 시간이 걸린다고 말했습니다.

Russia has rejected a draft United Nations Security Council statement aimed at pressuring Iran to curb its alleged nuclear weapons program.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov says the draft includes points that in effect lay the groundwork for sanctions against Iran.
His comments followed a meeting in New York today (Wednesday) of envoys of the five permanent members (United States, China, Russia, Britain, France) of the Council to informally discuss the British-French draft statement.
Earlier (Wednesday) U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice said she is confident the United States and its allies eventually will agree on how to pressure Iran to abandon sensitive nuclear activities. She said diplomacy takes time.
China has also opposed the Council's draft statement on the grounds it could lead to tough action against Iran.
