미국 연방수사국(FBI)이 도널드 트럼프 전 대통령 총격 사건을 철저히 수사하고 있다고 밝혔습니다.
FBI는 13일 성명을 통해 “오늘 펜실베이니아주 버틀러에서 발생한 트럼프 전 대통령 관련 사건에 대한 수사에서 FBI가 연방 수사 기관의 주도적 역할을 맡게 됐다”고 전했습니다.
[FBI] "The FBI has assumed the role of the lead federal law enforcement agency in the investigation of the incident involving former President Donald Trump that occurred earlier today in Butler, Pennsylvania. Special agents of the FBI Pittsburgh Field Office responded immediately, to include crisis response team members and evidence response technicians. We will continue to support this investigation with the full resources of the FBI, alongside our partners at the U.S. Secret Service and state and local law enforcement.”
이어 “FBI 피츠버그 현장 사무소의 특수 요원들은 위기 대응 팀원과 증거 대응 기술자를 포함해 즉시 대응했다”며 “비밀경호국과 주 및 지역 법집행 기관의 파트너와 함께 FBI의 모든 자원을 동원해 이 수사를 계속 지원할 것”이라고 설명했습니다.
알레한드로 마요르카스 미 국토안보장관은 13일 성명에서 “국토안보부와 비밀경호국은 법집행 파트너들과 협력해 총격 사건에 대응하고 조사하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
마요르카스 장관은 “킴벌리 치틀 비밀경호국장과 나는 오늘 펜실베이니아에서 발생한 총격 사건에 대해 바이든 대통령에게 브리핑했다”며 이같이 확인했습니다.
[마요르카스 장관] “U.S. Secret Service Director Cheatle and I have briefed President Biden on today’s shooting in Pennsylvania. DHS and the Secret Service are working with law enforcement partners to respond to and investigate the shooting. We condemn this violence in the strongest possible terms and commend the Secret Service for their swift action today. We are engaged with President Biden, former President Trump, and their campaigns, and are taking every possible measure to ensure their safety and security. Maintaining the security of the Presidential candidates and their campaign events is one of our Department’s most vital priorities.”
그러면서 “우리는 이 폭력을 가장 강력한 용어로 규탄한다”고 강조했습니다.
마요르카스 장관은 “우리는 바이든 대통령과 트럼프 전 대통령, 그리고 그들의 캠페인과 협력하고 있으며 그들의 안전과 보안을 보장하기 위해 가능한 모든 조치를 취하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
이어“ 대통령 후보와 캠페인 행사의 보안을 유지하는 것은 우리 부서의 가장 중요한 우선순위 중 하나”라고 덧붙였습니다.
