호세 페르난데스 국무부 경제성장∙에너지∙환경 담당 차관이 한국과 일본을 방문한다고 국무부가 밝혔습니다.
국무부 대변인실은 6일 보도자료에서 “페르난데스 차관이 9~11일 한국 서울에 이어11~12일 일본 도쿄를 방문한다”며 “방문 기간 정부 고위 관리와 다른 관계자들과 만나 공급망 복원력과 청정 에너지 전환과 기후 변화, 핵심 첨단기술 보호와 증진 등 가장 시급한 글로벌 과제 중 일부에 대한 협력을 논의할 예정”이라고 전했습니다.
[대변인실] “Under Secretary of State for Economic Growth, Energy, and the Environment Jose W. Fernandez will travel to Seoul, the Republic of Korea (ROK), January 9-11, and to Tokyo, Japan, January 11-12. During his visits, Under Secretary Fernandez will meet with senior government officials and other stakeholders to discuss cooperation on some of the most pressing global challenges, including supply chain resilience, the clean energy transition and climate change, and protecting and promoting critical and emerging technologies.”
대변인실에 따르면 페르난데스 차관은 이도훈 한국 외교부 제2차관을 포함한 한국 정부 관계자와 회동하고 미한 경제 협력에 필수적인 미국과 한국 기업들을 만나며 미국 상공회의소와 함께 여성의 사업 참여와 관련한 회의를 이끌 예정입니다.
또 일본에선 제5회 연례 인도태평양 비즈니스 포럼(IPBF) 참석과 주일 미국상공회의소, 재계 관계자와의 만남이 예정돼 있습니다.
[대변인실] “In both Seoul and Tokyo, the Under Secretary will advance cooperation on a positive economic agenda for the Indo-Pacific that increases prosperity for U.S., ROK, and Japanese citizens as well as for people across the region. Under Secretary Fernandez will also highlight the role U.S., ROK, and Japanese companies play in building local capacity and community life where they operate in the Indo-Pacific — including through supporting gender equality and developing human capital.”
대변인실은 “서울과 도쿄에서 페르난데스 차관은 미국과 한국, 일본 국민뿐 아니라 역내 사람들의 번영을 증진시키는 인도태평양의 긍정적인 경제 의제에 대한 협력을 진전시킬 것”이라며 “성평등과 인적 자본 개발을 포함해 인도태평양의 지역 역량과 공동체 생활 구축에 대한 미국과 한국, 일본 기업의 역할도 강조할 것”이라고 말했습니다.
