북한의 핵과 미사일 도발에 대응하기 위해 미한일 3국 협력을 계속 강화할 것이라고 일본 방위성이 밝혔습니다. 북한 미사일 경보 정보 실시간 공유를 위한 세부사항을 조율할 것이라는 점도 밝혔습니다. 박동정 기자가 보도합니다.
일본 방위성은 27일 북한의 핵과 미사일 위협 등에 대응하기 위한 미한일 3국 협력의 중요성을 강조했습니다.
[일본 방위성 당국자] “The JPN-ROK and JPN-US-ROK cooperation is increasingly important in the security environment surrounding Japan and the region which grows in severity and complexity, including the nuclear and missile issues of North Korea.”
일본 방위성 당국자는 27일 VOA에 보낸 이메일에서 관련 질문에 “북한의 핵과 미사일 문제 등 심각성과 복잡성이 증가하고 있는 일본과 역내를 둘러싼 안보 환경에서 한일과 미한일 협력이 점점 더 중요해지고 있다”고 말했습니다.
이어 “특히 북한의 거듭된 탄도미사일 발사를 고려해 일본, 미국, 한국은 어떠한 상황에도 대응할 수 있는 강력한 의지와 협력을 보여주는 연합훈련을 실시하고 있으며, 앞으로도 협력을 강화하기 위해 계속 노력할 것”이라고 강조했습니다.
[일본 방위성 당국자] “In particular, in light of the repeated launches of ballistic missiles by North Korea, Japan, the US and the ROK are conducting joint exercises which demonstrate our strong will and cooperation to respond to any situation, and will continue to work hard to strengthen cooperation.”
한국과 어떤 군사협력을 계획하고 있는지 묻는 질문에는 “한일 두 나라 국방 당국이 지속적인 소통의 중요성에 공감했다”고 말했습니다.
[일본 방위성 당국자] “The two defense authorities of Japan and the ROK have agreed on the importance of continuing communication. Regarding individual exchange projects, the MOD intends to make appropriate decisions, including the advisability and timing of its implementation.”
다만 개별적인 교환 프로젝트에 대해서는 이행의 타당성과 시기 등 방위성이 적절한 결정을 내릴 것이라고 덧붙였습니다.
아울러 지난해 11월 미한일 3국 정상회담 공동성명에 북한 미사일 경보 정보를 실시간으로 공유할 3국 정상의 의향이 명시돼 있다며, “우리는 세부사항을 조율할 것”이라고 설명했습니다.
[일본 방위성 당국자] “In addition, in the Japan-US-ROK trilateral leader’s level statement in November last year, it is clearly stated that “the Leaders intend to share DPRK missile warning data in real time,” ― and we will coordinate the details.”
한편 일본 방위성은 “일본과 한국 국방당국 사이의 다양한 현안들이 양자 국방협력과 교류에 영향을 미치고 있다”고 지적했습니다.
하지만 “방위성과 자위대는 한일 협력과 미한일 협력을 저해하지 않도록 이러한 문제를 적절하게 처리할 것을 한국 측에 지속적으로 촉구할 것”이라고 말했습니다.
[일본 방위성 당국자] “On the other hand, various issues between the defense authorities of Japan and the ROK are affecting bilateral defense cooperation and exchange. However, the MOD/SDF will continue to call on the ROK to appropriately deal with these issues so as not to impair the JPN-ROK and JPN-US-ROK cooperation.”
아울러 “이를 바탕으로 방위성과 자위대는 북한 문제 해결을 포함해 인도태평양 지역의 평화와 안정을 위해 한국과 긴밀한 소통을 유지해 나갈 계획”이라고 밝혔습니다.
