미국 인도태평양사령부는 30일 북한의 발사를 규탄하며 한국, 일본에 대한 방위 공약을 재확인했습니다.
인도태평양사령부는 이날 발표한 성명에서 “우리는 탄도미사일 기술을 이용한 북한의 발사를 알고 있다”며 “이는 만장일치로 통과된 여러 유엔 안보리 결의에 대한 뻔뻔한 위반이자 긴장을 고조시키고 역내와 그 너머의 안보 상황을 불안정하게 만들 위험이 있다”고 비판했습니다.
[인도태평양사령부] “We are aware of the DPRK’s launch using ballistic missile technology, which, is a brazen violation of multiple unanimous UN Security Council resolutions, raises tensions, and risks destabilizing the security situation in the region and beyond. This launch involved technologies that are directly related to the DPRK intercontinental ballistic missile program. We are assessing the situation in close coordination with our allies and partners. We have assessed that this event did not pose an immediate threat to U.S. personnel, territory, or that of our allies, but will continue to monitor the situation. The U.S. commitment to homeland defense and the defense of the Republic of Korea and Japan, remains ironclad”
이어 “이번 발사는 북한의 대륙간탄도미사일(ICBM) 프로그램과 직접적으로 연관된 기술을 포함하고 있다”며 “우리는 우리의 동맹, 파트너와 긴밀히 협력해 상황을 평가하고 있다”고 덧붙였습니다.
그러면서 “우리는 이번 일이 미국 개인이나 영토 또는 동맹에 직접적인 위협이 되지 않는다고 평가했지만 계속해서 상황을 주시할 것”이라고 말했습니다.
인도태평양사령부는 “미국 본토와 한국, 일본에 대한 미국의 방위 공약은 여전히 철통같다”고 강조했습니다.
