미한일 안보 수장 “북한 ICBM 발사 규탄…미사일 경보 정보 공유 중요성 확인”

미한일 3국 안보 수장들이 북한의 대륙간탄도미사일(ICBM) 발사를 규탄했습니다. 미사일 경보 정보 공유를 포함해 북한의 도발에 대응한 3국 공조를 강화하기로 했습니다. 함지하 기자가 보도합니다.

제이크 설리번 미국 국가안보보좌관이 17일 조태용 한국 국가안보실장, 아키바 다케오 일본 국가안보보장국장과 전화협의를 갖고 북한의 대륙간탄도미사일(ICBM) 시험 발사 문제를 논의했다고 백악관이 밝혔습니다.

백악관은 “(미한일) 국가안보보좌관들은 다수의 유엔 안보리 결의에 대한 명백한 위반인 이번 시험발사를 규탄했다”고 전했습니다.

[백악관] “National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan spoke this evening with National Security Office Director Cho Taeyong of the Republic of Korea (ROK) and National Security Secretariat Secretary General Akiba Takeo of Japan following the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea’s (DPRK) Intercontinental ballistic missile test. The national security advisors condemned the test, which is a flagrant violation of multiple UN Security Council resolutions. Mr. Sullivan reaffirmed the United States’ unwavering commitment to the defense of Japan and the ROK, and the national security advisors agreed that their engagement was an important exercise of the Commitment to Consult made at the historic Camp David Trilateral Summit in August.”

이어 “설리번 보좌관은 일본, 한국 방위에 대한 미국의 확고한 공약을 재확인했다”며 “국가안보보좌관들은 최근 만남이 지난 8월 역사적인 캠프 데이비드 3국 정상회의에서 이뤄진 협의 약속의 중요한 이행이라는 점에 동의했다”고 덧붙였습니다.

앞서 설리번 보좌관과 조태용 실장, 아키바 국장은 지난 9일 한국 서울에서 3자 회의를 갖고 북한의 위협에 대응하기 위한 새로운 대북 이니셔티브를 출범시킨 바 있습니다.

백악관은 “3국 안보보좌관들이 바이든 행정부 들어 네 번째로 열린 당시 회의를 통해 북한의 지속적인 도발에 대한 공조와 결의를 강화할 수 있었다는 점에 주목했다”고 밝혔습니다.

[백악관] “They noted that their December 9 National Security Advisors trilateral meeting in Seoul — the fourth such meeting of the Biden Administration — had allowed them to strengthen their coordination and resolve against continued DPRK provocations. They also underscored the importance of their work to share missile warning data and to coordinate responses to growing cooperation between Russia and the DPRK.”

이어 “(안보보좌관들은) 미사일 경보 정보를 공유하는 작업과 러시아와 북한 간의 협력 증대에 대한 대응을 조율하는 작업의 중요성을 강조했다”고 백악관은 덧붙였습니다.
