도널드 트럼프 전 대통령이 “오른쪽 귀 윗부분을 관통하는 총알에 맞았다”고 직접 밝혔습니다.
트럼프 전 대통령은 13일 소셜미디어 ‘트루스 소셜’을 통해 “나는 윙 소리와 총성을 듣고 바로 총알이 피부를 관통하는 것을 느끼면서 무언가 잘못됐다는 것을 즉시 알았다”며 당시 상황을 전했습니다.
[트럼프 전 대통령] “Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead. I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!"
이어 “출혈이 심해 그제서야 무슨 일인지 깨달았다”며 “미국에 신의 가호가 있기를”이라고 말했습니다.
트럼프 전 대통령은 “사망한 총격범에 대해선 현 시점 알려진 바가 없다”며 용의자가 사망한 사실을 확인했습니다.
앞서 트럼프 전 대통령은 이날 펜실베이니아주 버틀러의 유세장에서 총격을 받았으며 이후 오른쪽 귓가에 피를 흘린 채 병원으로 옮겨졌습니다.
트럼프 전 대통령은 “펜실베이니아주 버틀러에서 발생한 총격 사건에서 신속하게 대응해준 미 비밀경호국과 모든 법 집행기관에 감사한다”고 말했습니다.
[트럼프 전 대통령] “"I want to thank The United States Secret Service, and all of Law Enforcement, for their rapid response on the shooting that just took place in Butler, Pennsylvania. Most importantly, I want to extend my condolences to the family of the person at the Rally who was killed, and also to the family of another person that was badly injured. It is incredible that such an act can take place in our Country.”
이어 “무엇보다 유세장에서 사망한 사람의 가족과 중상을 입은 또 다른 사람의 가족에게도 애도를 표하고 싶다”며 “우리나라에서 이런 일이 일어날 수 있다는 것이 믿기지 않는다”고 덧붙였습니다.
