미 국무부, '김정은 10년' 논평 요청에 "목표는 한반도 비핵화... 대북 적대의도 없어"

미 국무부는 김정은 국무위원장 집권10년에 대한 VOA 논평 요청에 바이든 행정부 출범 이후 일관되게 밝혀온 입장을 재확인했습니다.

국무부 대변인은 17일 VOA에 “우리의 목표는 여전히 한반도의 완전한 비핵화”이며 “미국은 북한에 대해 적대적 의도가 없다”고 밝혔습니다.

[국무부 대변인] “Our goal remains the complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula. The U.S. harbors no hostile intent toward the DPRK. Our policy calls for a calibrated, practical approach that is open to and will explore diplomacy with the DPRK to make tangible progress that increases the security of the U.S., our allies, and our deployed forces. We are prepared to meet with the DPRK without preconditions. We hope the DPRK will respond positively to our outreach. We continue to consult closely with the ROK, Japan, and other allies and partners about how to best engage the DPRK.”

이어 “우리는 미국과 동맹국, 그리고 배치된 군대의 안보를 증진시키는 가시적인 진전을 이루기 위해 조율되고 실용적인 접근법의 일환으로 북한과의 외교를 계속 추구할 것”이라고 말했습니다.

아울러 “우리는 북한과 전제조건 없이 만날 준비가 돼 있으며 북한이 우리의 제안에 긍정적으로 반응하길 바란다”고 덧붙였습니다.

국무부 대변인은 “우리는 한국과 일본, 그리고 다른 동맹국들과 파트너와 함께 북한에 관여하는 최선의 방법에 대해 계속 긴밀하게 협의하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
