유엔∙EU, 북한 탄도미사일 발사 비판…“위험한 시기에 긴장 고조”

북한의 탄도미사일 시위에 대한 국제사회의 비판이 이어지고 있습니다. 유엔과 유럽연합은 북한의 발사가 국제사회 평화와 안보에 위협을 제기한다며, 안보리 결의 이행의 중요성을 강조했습니다. 함지하 기자가 보도합니다.

유엔 사무총장 대변인실은 28일 VOA에 보낸 이메일에서 “탄도미사일 기술을 이용한 북한의 발사 재개는 역내와 국제적 긴장을 높이는 데 기여할 뿐”이라며 비판했습니다.

[유엔 대변인실] "The resumption of launches using ballistic missile technology by the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) only contributes to increasing regional and international tensions. The Secretary-General is concerned about the latest developments and reiterates his call on the DPRK to comply fully with its international obligations under all relevant Security Council resolutions. At this time of global tensions and peril, all Member States have a responsibility to ensure that tensions do not escalate in other regions."

대변인실은 “(안토니우 구테흐스) 사무총장이 최근의 상황 전개에 우려하고 있으며 북한에 모든 안보리 결의에 따른 국제적 의무를 완전히 준수할 것을 거듭 촉구했다”고 밝혔습니다.

이어 “세계적인 긴장과 위험의 시기에 모든 유엔 회원국들은 다른 지역에서 긴장이 고조되지 않도록 보장할 책임이 있다”고 덧붙였습니다.

나빌라 마스랄리 유럽연합(EU) 대변인은 27일 트위터를 통해 공개한 성명에서 “오늘 또 한번의 북한 미사일 발사는 평화와 안보에 대한 도전”이라고 밝혔습니다.

[마스랄리 대변인] “Another DPRK missile launch today is a challenge to peace and security. DPRK must cease destabilising actions, engage in dialogue and comply with international law.”

그러면서 “북한은 불안정한 행동을 중단하고, 대화에 관여하며 국제법을 준수해야만 한다”고 강조했습니다.

유엔주재 아일랜드 대표부도 28일 트위터를 통해 “아일랜드는 유엔 안보리 결의에 위배되는 올해 북한의 10번째 발사를 규탄한다”고 밝혔습니다.

[아일랜드 대표부] “Ireland condemns the 10th launch by #DPRK this year, which contravenes UNSC resolutions. Such actions are a continuing threat to international peace & security, and show the need for the int'l community to hold DPRK to its obligations.”

이어 “이러한 행동은 국제 평화와 안보에 대한 지속적인 위협이고 국제사회가 북한의 의무 준수를 이끌어내야 할 필요성을 보여준다”고 말했습니다.
