토니 블링컨 국무장관과 페니 웡 호주 외무장관이 북한의 도발 문제를 포함한 국제 현안을 논의했습니다.
네드 프라이스 국무부 대변인은 24일 보도자료에서 두 장관이 전날 “일본 도쿄에서 쿼드 정상회담과 별도로 만나 미국-호주 동맹과 인도태평양 지역의 평화와 안정을 위한 상호 노력에 대해 논의했다”고 밝혔습니다.
[프라이스 대변인] “Secretary of State Antony J. Blinken met yesterday with Australian Foreign Minister Penny Wong in Tokyo on the sidelines of the Quad Leaders’ Summit to discuss the strong U.S.-Australia Alliance and our mutual efforts to ensure peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.”
이어 “블링컨 장관과 웡 장관은 북한의 지속적이고 불안정한 도발을 포함한 역내 전개 상황에 우려를 표명했으며, 자유롭고 개방된 인도태평양을 발전시키고 태평양 도서 지역의 탄력성과 경제적 기회, 자유를 강화하기 위해 파트너·동맹국들과 긴밀히 협력할 것을 약속했다고 프라이스 대변인은 전했습니다.
[프라이스 대변인] “The Secretary and Foreign Minister expressed their concerns around ongoing developments in the region, including the DPRK’s continued destabilizing provocations, and committed to continue working closely with partners and allies to advance a free and open Indo-Pacific and to strengthen the resiliency, economic opportunity, and freedom for the Pacific Island region.”
프라이스 대변인은 “두 장관이 양자적으로, 또 쿼드와 오커스 파트너십 그리고 아세안 중심성을 계속 존중하는 방식을 통해 협력하겠다는 그들의 약속을 재확인했다”고 말했습니다. 그러면서 “블링컨 장관과 웡 장관은 지속 가능하고 포용적인 경제 성장과 번영을 견인하게 될 인도태평양 경제 프레임워크 출범을 환영하고, 기후 위기 해결의 시급성에 주목했다”고 덧붙였습니다.
[프라이스 대변인] “The Secretary and Foreign Minister reaffirmed their commitment to working together bilaterally, through the Quad, and via the AUKUS partnership as well as their continued respect for ASEAN centrality. Secretary Blinken and Foreign Minister Wong welcomed the launch of the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework, which will drive sustainable and inclusive economic growth and prosperity, and they noted the imperative of addressing the climate crisis. They also discussed collective efforts to hold the Russian Federation accountable for its unprovoked and unjust war of choice against Ukraine, as well as mutual efforts to provide security assistance to Ukraine.”
아울러 두 장관은 “우크라이나에 대한 러시아의 정당한 이유가 없고 부당한 전쟁에 책임을 묻기 위한 공동의 노력뿐 아니라 우크라이나에 안보 지원을 제공하기 위한 상호 노력에 대해서도 논의했다”고 밝혔습니다.
