미국 인도태평양사령부는 북한의 탄도미사일 발사를 규탄하고 추가 도발 자제를 촉구했습니다.
인도태평양사령부는 3일(미국 시각) 발표한 성명에서 “우리는 북한이 오늘 발사한 탄도미사일이 일본 상공을 넘어 비행한 것을 알고 있다”며 “북한이 제기한 위협에 대처하기 위해 일본과 한국, 역내 동맹∙파트너들과 긴밀히 협의하고 있다”고 밝혔습니다.
[인도태평양사령부 성명] “We are aware of the DPRK’s ballistic missile launch today, including that it overflew Japan. We are consulting closely with Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK), as well as other regional allies and partners, to address the threats posed by the DPRK. The United States condemns these actions and calls on the DPRK to refrain from further unlawful and destabilizing acts. While we have assessed that this event does not pose a threat to U.S. personnel, or territory, or to our allies, we will continue to monitor the situation. The U.S. commitments to the defense of Japan and the ROK remain ironclad.”
이어 “미국은 이러한 행동을 규탄하며 북한이 불법적이고 불안정을 초래하는 추가 행동을 자제할 것을 촉구한다”고 강조했습니다.
또한 “우리는 이번 일이 미국 개인이나 영토, 또는 동맹국에 즉각적 위협이 되지 않는다고 평가했지만, 우리는 계속해서 상황을 감시할 것”이라며 “일본과 한국에 대한 미국의 방위 공약은 여전히 철통같다”고 확인했습니다.
